Advancing LaserNetUS Science with Enhanced Diagnostics
Sep 9, 2024. News
The 2023 LaserNetUS Data & Diagnostics Workshop was held from October 11-13, 2023, in Fort Collins, CO.
LaserNetUS is proud to announce the publication of a comprehensive report from the Data & Diagnostics Workshop held in October 2023. This event brought together leading scientists and researchers to discuss the future of diagnostics in high-power laser experiments.
The workshop highlighted the critical role of diagnostics in bridging the gap between experimental data and theoretical models. Participants reviewed current state-of-the-art capabilities, identified limitations, and outlined essential future research efforts. The report emphasizes the need for continuous enhancement of diagnostic tools to keep pace with evolving laser drivers and to uncover new insights into complex systems.
A key outcome of the workshop is the proposal for a Common Diagnostic Program (CDP) within the LaserNetUS program. The CDP aims to centralize and standardize diagnostic tools, creating a unified framework that will streamline their usage across different facilities. This initiative includes the development of a digital library of diagnostic resources, a community forum for sharing advancements, a comprehensive database of diagnostics and their custodians, and a lending program for diagnostic components and systems.
By centralizing resources, the CDP would enhance the efficiency of LaserNetUS experimental campaigns, promote best practices in diagnostic implementation, and make high-quality diagnostics accessible to a broader range of users. This initiative is set to reduce barriers to entry for innovative experimental techniques and uplift capabilities at smaller laboratories.
